This UPDATE course is 1 day duration and the aim of this training is to provide the candidate with an awareness of the main alterations and additions from the 16th edition incorporated in BS 7671:2008.
Course content Introduction, Changes to the preface, numbering and fundamental principles
Protection against electric shock, Concerning changes to basic terms, definitions and socket outlet protection
Selection and erection of wiring systems, Concerning damage protection of buried cables, including metallic protection, RCD’s and metal framed walls
Generator sets, Concerning low voltage generating sets including wind turbines, solar powered generators, PV systems, water turbines and combined heat and power boilers
Luminaries and lighting, A new section that applies to all general lighting installations including street furniture, extra low voltage systems and special considerations for fire protection
Special locations, Several new sections in part 7
Modified sections, Substantial changes to locations containing baths and showers including use of RCD’s and cabling in surrounding walls.
Modifications concerning swimming pools, saunas, construction sites, agricultural and horticultural locations, conductive locations and caravan and camping parks
New sections, Concerning marinas, exhibitions, photovoltaic PV systems, mobile units, caravans and motor homes and temporary electrical installations
