Information Advice and Guidance

IPS International provides IAG – that is Information, Advice and Guidance - to individual trainees and to employers. IAG is the official name. What it really means is that IPS training experts are there to provide information, help and support to:

Ø     those who wish to pursue training or are already into a training programme

Ø     employers who need to work out what training will improve their business

Some of the key assistance to individuals is:

Ø     Find out what training you want and need

Ø     What training options are available

Ø     Is a qualification valuable and what is needed to achieve the qualification

Ø     How much time and effort will it take

Ø     How much will it cost, or can government funding help out

Ø     How do I decide what is best for me from all the alternatives

Ø     Once I have decided – how does the training work, what does it entail

Ø     How much help will the trainer provide, what do I have to work out myself

Ø     What will the qualification mean to my career

Ø     What could I do next, how can I progress

Ø     Where do I go if IPS cannot help me

Ø     What will my employer think about all this

Employers may want some of this help and will also need other assistance

Ø     What training will have a positive impact on my business

Ø     Can my staff get training which is planned specifically for my business

Ø     How can I identify the skills my staff need

Ø     How can I find out the skills my staff actually have

Ø     There are several training needs – what are the priorities

Ø     Can I get government help with funding so that I can afford the training

Ø     Are there any disadvantages with training – might I lose staff

Ø     Can you help me with a training plan over the next year or more

IPS can help in all of these areas and many more. IAG is not just a one off conversation before training starts. Nor need it be a formal interview. It can help right through the training process and can be most important at the end when the question arises – what comes next – where is the progression. If you have talked to IPS about training for you or for your staff just think back. You will find there were lots of points where your IPS trainer helped you.

IAG sounds rather formal. And what does it mean. IPS explains it this way:

Ø     Advice – The help people need to understand and use information to the very best advantage

Ø     Guidance – Helping to look at general and individual needs and helping you to make good decisions
