COURSE STARTING ON 15th JANUARY 2009. BOOK NOW!! |
Aims |
· To provide ongoing opportunities for team and cell leaders to develop their practical competence in the workplace to nationally determined and recognised standards |
· To motivate participants to engage in developmental activity, based on their existing competence, personal career goals and the demands of the workplace |
· To enable employers to identify participants’ current potential and their development needs |
Entry Requirements |
The Level 2 NVQ in Team Leading is for a practising team leader |
· whose work involves the application of knowledge and skills in a significant range of varied work activities, performed in a variety of contexts, and some of which are complex or non-routine, and |
· who has some degree of personal autonomy and responsibility, and |
· collaborates with others through membership of a team |
There are no prior entry requirements in terms of knowledge, attainment or experience. It is expected that intending candidates are in a position to gather evidence to demonstrate competence against the standards and are able to benefit generally from the programme. Where candidates are not employed, evidence may be available from activities such as voluntary work, or placements. |
Progression |
Candidates may progress on to a Level 3 NVQ – either in Management or another appropriate occupational area – provided that their circumstances allow for competence to be demonstrated against the appropriate national occupational standards. |
Alternatively, candidates may choose to progress to a vocationally related programme – in Management or another appropriate occupational area. This option may be preferable where the opportunity to demonstrate competence at a higher level is not yet present, but the candidate wishes to begin development and acquisition of relevant knowledge and skills. |
Programme Outline |
A full NVQ at Level 2 is available to any candidate who is able to demonstrate competence as defined by the national occupational standards. Certificates of unit credit are available for individual units. Each unit is divided into elements, which are described in more detail by their respective performance criteria, knowledge requirements and evidence requirements. |

Key Features |
· The NVQ programme at Level 2 is competence-based, and is concerned with a candidate’s performance in the workplace or any other suitable alternative, such as voluntary work for example. |
· A candidate must be assessed as competent against six units (four mandatory, and two optional) to achieve the full Level 2 NVQ in Team Leading |
· Individual units may be credited to candidates who may not wish (or who are unable) to complete the full NVQ. This provides total flexibility for those candidates who wish to acquire NVQ units as part of their continuing professional development. |
· Units of the Level 2 NVQ in Team Leading certificated by other awarding bodies are recognised by ILM for the purposes of unit accumulation towards the full qualification. This is particularly relevant in relation to imported units |
