Level 3 NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

 

This NVQ is a work-based qualification that assesses the skills and knowledge that people in your job need to perform their job role effectively.

 

It is a motor industry qualification that covers activities that relate to service technicians working on vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.

 

Successful candidates will demonstrate a broad working knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.

 

The qualification includes the following areas:

Diagnosis and rectification of:

• engine and component faults

• chassis system faults

• and auxiliary equipment electrical faults

 

And offers opportunities for candidates to also demonstrate:

• Diagnosis and rectification of vehicle transmission and driveline system faults

• Overhauling mechanical units

• Inspecting vehicles

• Identifying and agreeing customer vehicle needs

• Training others through demonstration and instruction

 

The candidate will demonstrate skills and knowledge by collecting evidence of their work. This evidence is presented in a portfolio. The assessor will advise on how to generate, collect and present evidence. The candidate will also undertake C & G GOALA set ‘on-line’ multiple-choice tests.
