National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)
We offer a range of NVQs in Management - these programmes allow selection of a range of modules relevant to the work situation leading to the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. These qualifications are geared to 4 levels:
Level 2 for Team Leaders who
· involve the application of knowledge and skills in a significant range of varied work activities, performed in a variety of contexts, and some of which are complex or non-routine, and
· Has some degree of personal; autonomy and responsibility, and
· Collaborates with others through membership of a team
Level 3 for First Line Managers who
· Operate within tightly defined areas of responsibility
· May have some opportunity for taking decisions and managing budgets
· Are responsible for achieving specific results by using resources effectively
· Allocate work to team members, colleagues or contractors
Level 4 for Middle Managers who
· Allocate work to others
· Achieve specific results by using resources effectively
· Carry out policy in defined areas of authority
· Contribute to broader activities such as change programmes and recruitment
Level 5 for Senior Managers who
· Have operational responsibility for substantial programmes & resources
· Have a broad span of control
· Proactively identify and implement change and quality improvements
· Negotiate budgets and contracts
· Lead high level meetings
NVQ’s are competence based and knowledge and skills are assessed in the workplace – in conjunction with a portfolio of evidence assembled by the candidate. The whole approach is candidate driven which allows for individuals to gain the qualification at a pace that suits them.
