NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care Award
Level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care

 

The Level 3 qualification is built up from a mix of mandatory units, and group B and C units.
At Level 3 all candidates who are employed in the social care sector must be assessed in the mandatory units, and a mix of the group B and C units Working towards a total of 58 credits, there is no limit to the amount of units a learner must complete so long as they meet the credit total.
Candidates may do additional units for continuing professional development (CPD) only - candidates who choose this route and do not achieve 58 credits will not be awarded the full Diploma

The candidates may choose one of the 3 pathways available in this award this will be agreed after discussion with the assessor, candidate and employer, who will agree the most suitable pathway for the candidate

  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Promote person centred approaches in health and social care
  • Promote and implement health  and safety in health and social care
  • Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings
 
Examples of group B and C  units
  • The principles of infection prevention and control
  • Support individuals with specific communication needs
  • Support individuals to maintain personal hygiene
  • Move and position individuals in accordance with their plan of care
  • Promote active support
