Train to Gain is a national training programme developed and funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and is designed to help businesses in England get the training they need to develop their employees.  Train to Gain provides the funding needed to train employees to a “First NVQ level 2 Qualification”.

The key areas are:

·   Engineering – the widest possible range of maintenance and production engineering

·   Social Care

·   Business and Administration

·   Customer Service

·   Using IT

·   Glass – manufacturing, installing and repairing windows and other fenestration

·   Plastics manufacture

·   First line management

The key training offer in the above sectors is

1. Training towards a first level 2 qualification, usually an NVQ

2. For more experienced staff training to the achievement of a level 3 NVQ

The level 2 training is fully funded by the Learning and Skills Council for all eligible trainees in the above priority sectors.  For the “level 3 jumpers” the employer makes a small contribution, usually £300 towards the training cost. See the NVQ qualifications available through IPS

Train to Gain is targeted towards industry and commerce, with a special focus on companies with less than 250 staff, to provide training and qualifications for a workforce in order to improve business productivity and results.
