Careers Advice on Apprenticeships, really matters
The Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act gained royal assent in November 2009 and under careers education, amended section 43 the Education Act of 1998 such that the programme of careers education available in schools must include advice on Apprenticeships.
The government aims to have 250,000 apprentice starts this year offering a wide range of choice through small to large employers.
Key statistics from Populus research (February 2009):
• 81% of businesses agree that apprentices make their work place more productive.
• Apprentices provide the skilled workers we need for the future (82% employers agree).
• Apprenticeships mean lower recruitment costs (67% employers agree).

Our apprentices come from all the Kent local authority areas, some working for small local employers and others travelling to Rochester each day to receive “off the job training”.
