IPS was part of the bid team for an innovative one stop shop for apprentices and employers that has just been launched in the South East and will be up and running this spring. The South East Apprentice Company (SEAC) is a brand new Apprentice Training Association established with government funding targeted to help create almost 1000 apprenticeships over the next 3 years.
SEAC will not become involved with employers who already successfully take on apprentices. Rather it is aimed at smaller employers who do not want to take on the bureaucracy of employing an apprentice but believe an apprentice would be "good for business". SEAC will act as an agency employing the apprentice and taking on all the bureaucracy administration.
SEAC will interview and place apprentices with companies plus arranging all the training with one of the existing apprentice providers. Where an employer cannot provide a complete programme for an apprentice because of seasonal work or because the full apprentice training cannot be completed SEAC will place the apprentice in another employer for part of the programme. Employers will then have the opportunity to provide a full time job once the apprenticeship is complete.
The training provider network in Kent (KATO) won one of only 12 successful bids to government for this exciting new programme. Mike Henderson – vice chairman of KATO and a director of IPS International is a director of the new SEAC Company and IPS will be a major player in delivering apprenticeships in this new way.
Within the new scheme IPS will offer all its apprenticeships in
- Engineering
- Construction Engineering
- Motor Vehicle Engineering
- Social Care
- Business Administration
- Customer Service
- Using IT
- Manufacturing
