Marine Engineer Officer of the Watch practical skills training
IPS International is delivering practical engineering workshop skills training for University of Greenwich students on the Marine Engineering Technology, (BEng Hons) programme.
The training covers engineering workshop skills, maintenance and assembly skills and electrical practice skills recommended by the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) for candidates for the Marine Engine Operator Licence (MEOL) issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). The MEOL leads on to the Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOW) qualification and is an additional qualification gained on top of the honours degree. The University of Greenwich is offering the B.Eng. (hons) degree as a 3 years Full-time; 4 years Sandwich course.
Marine engineering requires a real ability to combine theoretical and practical skills, often working under pressure and adverse conditions. Modern ships demand the need for training in the use of state-of-the-art, highly sophisticated technology, and uniquely, the training qualifications are recognised throughout the world.
