(Corporate Programme - Part-funded)

Our Introductory Certificate in Accounting will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles by giving you a solid foundation in finance administration - covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping and basic costing principles.

Commencing 6th October 2015 at our Rochester centre

INTRODUCTION: This course is an introductory level qualification and is designed to enable you to enhance your skills in finance administration.

THE LEARNER: For the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Accounting, no previous accounting experience is necessary, but applicants must be employed, preferably in an accounting role and like working with numbers and be able to demonstrate the potential for developing good communication skills. It is expected that intending learners are in a position to gather evidence to demonstrate competence against the standards and are able to benefit generally from the programme.

THE PROGRAMME: The duration of the programme is 15 months and consists of 9 half day workshops run about 5 weekly, and a competence Certificate, Functional Skills, ERR (Employees Rights and Responsibilities) and PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills) are also included.

The Certificate (Competence) AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting: The NVQ certificate is awarded by the well-known awarding body, the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and consists of 5 units including Processing Bookkeeping Transactions, Control Accounts, Journals and the Banking Systems, Basic Costing, Computerised Accounting and Working Effectively in Accounting and Finance. 4 of these units have Computer Based Tests (CBTs) that must be taken at the training centre. Extra study and revision sessions are available in preparation for tests. The final unit is a project using the Sage accounting package.

Functional Skills - The functional skills included in this programme consist of maths and English which are supported by on-line tests. They are provided as an on-line support package and a separate provision with the assessor.  Exemptions may be identified.

Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook: The Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) workbook from the Financial Skills Partnership (FSP) has been produced to ensure understanding of the Employment Responsibilities and Rights that form part of the Apprenticeship programme.

Personal Learning & Thinking Skills - The Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) are made up of independent enquirers, creative thinkers, reflective learners, team workers, self-managers and effective participants and must be achieved and evidenced by the apprentice as part of the framework requirements.

*(Unfortunately, funding is not available for those already holding a level 4 or above qualification or equivalent which also includes a degree)
