ILM Programme in Team Leading

Team Leaders / Supervisors who wish to develop the knowledge and skills required to lead and manage their teams

Commencing 20th October 2016 at our centre in Rochester on the Medway City Estate

THE LEARNER -  There are no prior entry requirements in terms of knowledge, attainment or experience.  It is expected however that intending learners are in a position to gather evidence to demonstrate competence against the standards and are able to benefit generally from the programme.

THE PROGRAMME – Now a combined diploma sized knowledge and competence qualification, this one year programme gives learners the opportunity to develop the core competences needed by team leaders in today’s dynamic business world. First by imbedding the knowledge needed to complete the activities and tasks required by today’s team leaders and supervisors. Then by allowing them to display their competence in carrying out the tasks required as part of their day to day role.
This programme consists of:
  • A Diploma qualification,
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
  • An ERR module (Employees Rights and Responsibilities)
  • and is supported with 6 half day training workshops run 6 weekly,
The Diploma (Competence & Knowledge) - ILM Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading
The Diploma is awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and consists of units including Managing Personal Performance and Development, Communicating Work-Related Information, Leading and Managing a Team, Principles of Team Leading, and Understanding Business, plus other optional units.
The learner is required to produce a portfolio of evidence for assessment in the units and complete some written assignments.
This will involve visits to the workplace by a trainer/assessor during and after the workshop programme. This will happen once a month (or more frequently if the learner needs any extra help). The learner will be able to discuss the work they are doing as part of their job with the trainer to match their skills against the qualification requirements. The learner will gather evidence that proves they meet the qualification requirements, which they will keep in the portfolio. The trainer will also observe the learner completing tasks at work and check knowledge and understanding through questions and discussions. The learner will be able to review their progress with their trainer at each visit, and they can contact the trainer at any time if they need extra support.

Maths, English & ICT Functional Skills - Learners must complete or have completed an English, Maths and ICT  functional skills qualification or equivalent in order to successfully complete the programme. This will involve training and development in these three areas as part of the programme. Where a learner already has a GCSE or equivalent at A-C in any of these skills then this will be recognised as an exemption.

Employees Rights and Responsibilities Assignment - The Employees Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) module has been produced to ensure understanding of the Employment Responsibilities and Rights that form part of the programme.
